Method of Production

The entire process is done by hand, with one piece of work taking over 3 years to make.
No glaze or lye is applied, and each item is completed solely with clay, wood, fire, and the special expertise of the Bae family.
Clay is collected directly by the Bae family, and is fermented, shaped, and fired at a temperature of over 1300℃ for 5 days in the wood kiln.
It’s clearly different from ordinary Onggi ware as it’s fired in the kiln at a temperature of 1300℃.
First of all, natural sea salt is thrown over the works at a high temperature in order to raise its functionality of preservation.
Secondly, dark blue smoke (carbon) is added into the works to give them the ability to purify and deodorize. The works result in dark blue in color.
